How do I use my wax melt?

Sample Pods (Due on Sale in Spring 2021):

Our Mini Pods are 25g for comparison a standard heart or mould shape wax elsewhere usually weights around 7 grams and a 2 cubes of a standard snap bar usually weight 10g, with this in mind our mini pods can be halved. 12.5 grams of wax should provide between 8-12 hours of fragrance.

Snap Bars:

Simply snap off a few cubes of wax and add to your burner, please ensure you do not overfill your burner.

What type of wax do you use?

Our current wax is a Soy & Mineral Blend, this means it contains a small amount of Parrafin. the wax is a signature in house blend and cannot be purchased from anywhere else, we are also in the testing stages of 2 new waxes, an all Soy wax and a Rapeseed and Coconut wax blend. There are alot of common myths about wax: The main myth about both paraffin and soy wax is that they are both toxic and can damage our health. Because paraffin wax comes from crude oil, and its association with petroleum which is another derivative of crude oil, it’s believed that it’s harmful. This isn’t the case, as they have two very different compositions. The soot and the chemicals that both of these wax types create and emit is also believed to be extremely toxic. Paraffin wax emissions include chemicals like alkans, alkenes and toluene and it’s thought that soy wax emissions include chemicals from pesticides that have been sprayed onto soybean crops. Soy wax manufacturers filter out any of these chemicals, and the chemicals that paraffin wax emits have minimal effect on humans. It’s correct that soot is not good for your respiratory system but it isn’t necessarily dangerous, and mostly depends on how the candle is burning. In general, soy wax burns in a slightly cleaner manner, but a good quality paraffin wax should not burn with a sooty smoke either. The idea that either wax is harmful is completely incorrect. These waxes would not be used in candles and sold to the public if they were considered as unsafe; paraffin is actually approved by the FDA and is used in food and cosmetics. As long as you don’t burn your candles in a non-ventilated room, with an untrimmed wick that produces a large amount of soot, for a long period of time, there will be no effect on your health. At Hunter-Bailey, we use a Soy and Parrafin blend in our wax melts, and we do not see any evidence that either are harmful to people or the environment. Just enjoy your wax melts safe in the knowledge that you, and the world we live in are all perfectly safe whichever wax they are made from!

Yes, this is very important to us having two Spaniels. The fragrance shouldn't be a problem at all, our products are used around pets all the time with no issues. However, the fragrance oils do contain chemicals so it's important that you keep your wax melts out of pets reach.
